We are already over the one quarter mark of the 2015 season. By this point we have a pretty good idea of which NFL players and teams are going to be reliable fantasy producers, and which ones we would have been better steering clear of.
Even though the season is well on its way, it’s always best to take a proactive approach to your league’s waiver wire. Whether you’re sitting in first place and looking to pad your roster, or struggling to stay a playoff contender, staying engaged in free agency will give you the best chance to improve your odds of ultimately winning the championship.
Your waiver wire may seem picked over, but even the deepest leagues provide opportunities for owners willing to do the work. Here are some widely-available players that may be available to help you secure a better, winning fantasy roster.
Quarterbacks
Jay Cutler, Bears (ESPN 12% owned; 10% FAAB) – Cutler returned to action in Week 4 and led the Bears to their first victory of the season, while looking substantially better than Jimmy Clausen did. During the victory, Cutler threw for 281 yards and two touchdowns, and graded out as a top-10 passer in PFF grades even though he wasn’t yet fully healthy. Expect Cutler to be a popular add this week, as he was expected to miss more time with a hamstring injury. Now that he’s returned to Chicago’s lineup, Cutler has solid QB2 and streaming value, especially in Week 5 where the Bears take on a Kansas City secondary that has allowed the most touchdown passes in the league.
