  • According to Ian Rapoport, the Seattle Seahawks have traded for offensive tackle Duane Brown and have given the Houston Texans a 2018 fifth-round pick, a 2019 second-round pick plus Jeremy Lane to do so. Brown, who saw his first game action this past week, is a massive upgrade to a Seahawks offensive line in desperate need. Duane Brown to Seattle was one of PFF’s trades that made sense for both teams.
  • Brown joins one of the most porous offensive lines in the league in terms of pass blocking, a unit that is ranked 30th with a 71.5 pass-blocking efficiency mark. On 428 pass-block snaps in 2016, Brown surrendered just one sack on his way to putting up his eighth consecutive season being ranked in the top-20 at his position with an overall grade of 84.6.
  • Over the past two seasons the Seahawks have boasted one of the worst left-tackle situation in the NFL. In 2016 starter George Fant was the lowest graded tackle in the league with an overall grade of 30.3, while this season has featured Rees Odhiambo as the starter. His grade of 27.3 also ranks last among qualifiers.
  • Unfortunately for Houston, losing Brown isn’t ideal, as they rank dead last in pass-blocking efficiency as a unit with a mark of 66.2. However, with the struggles of Kareem Jackson (47.0 overall grade) and Kevin Johnson (31.3), they add a cornerback to the mix in Jeremy Lane (42.8) who has also struggled this season but could add some competition to the mix.
