- According to Matt Vensel of the Star Tribune, Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith was a full go in at least one practice last week. Smith had been recovering from offseason ankle surgery and doesn’t appear to have suffered a setback.
- Despite being hampered down the stretch by his ankle injury, Smith strung together his third consecutive year in the top-10 graded safeties. His 85.4 overall grade was the lowest since 2013 but was still good for 10th among 90 eligible safeties.
- Smith was again dominant against the run, as he has be for most of his career. His run-defense grade of 90.3 ranked sixth and his 8.4 run-stop percentage ranked third among safeties.
- In 2014, Smith was PFF’s second-highest-graded safety at 88.7. He followed that up by ranking first overall in 2015 (88.9).
