- The Los Angeles Chargers’ cornerback Casey Hayward turned in a huge performance Week 11 against the Buffalo Bills and their rookie quarterback Nathan Peterman. Hayward’s 96.3 game grade was the third highest of the season for a cornerback. Hayward was all over the place Sunday and on eight targets into his coverage, he gave up just one catch while intercepting two passes and breaking up two others.
- With yet another monster performance from Hayward, he now ranks first among cornerbacks on the season with an overall grade of 93.5. He has been a nightmare for quarterback’s week-in and week-out, allowing the fourth lowest catch rate into his coverage of 44.7 percent and getting his hands on 12 of 47 targets for either an interception or pass-breakup. His playmaker index of 25.9 percent ranks first among 75 cornerbacks that have been targeted at least 35 times.
- Hayward has been money in critical moments, allowing a passer rating against of just 49.7 on third and fourth downs.
- Perhaps most impressively Hayward has put up such gaudy performances while shadowing opposing team’s No. 1 wide receiver on 187 snaps, the fourth most among cornerbacks.
