With the new season underway, we’re kicking off a weekly series at PFF that offers a behind-the-scenes look at our grading process. Each week, we’ll break down some of the highest-graded individual plays—complete with tweets to show you the action.
Here are a few standout plays from Week 1.
Chris Boswell’s game-winning field goal
Boswell drilled a 60-yard field goal to give the Steelers a Week 1 win, and he made it look routine. He finished 2024 as the NFL’s second-highest graded kicker with a 92.3 PFF field goal grade and is already making a case to be among the league’s best again in 2025.

Isaac TeSlaa’s one-handed grab
While it didn’t change the outcome—cutting the deficit from three scores to two with under a minute left—TeSlaa’s late touchdown against the Packers might end up as the catch of the year. He hauled it in one-handed, secured it and managed to land just in bounds.

DeAndre Hopkins Sunday Night Football magic
While TeSlaa’s grab may go down as the catch of the year, another reception earned the same top grade in Week 1—DeAndre Hopkins’ one-handed touchdown on Sunday Night Football. Despite having his left arm pulled back by Bills cornerback Christian Benford, Hopkins secured the ball with one hand for the score.

Evan Williams Interception
With the Lions in scoring range late in the second quarter, second-year safety Evan Williams made a great break on the ball to secure a diving interception, preserving Green Bay’s two-score lead at the half. On the same play, edge defender Micah Parsons earned a significant positive grade for beating right tackle Penei Sewell inside to generate quick pressure.

Dak Prescott pass dropped by CeeDee Lamb
Several throws earned the highest single-throw grade in Week 1—including one that shows up as a drop in the box score. Dak Prescott beat Eagles cornerback Cooper DeJean with a perfectly placed ball, but CeeDee Lamb couldn’t secure the diving catch. It goes down as an incompletion on the stat sheet, but it’s a big-time throw in PFF Premium Stats, available with a PFF+ subscription.

Aireontae Ersery clears the way for Nick Chubb
The NFL spotlighted Chubb’s ability to bounce off defenders on this play, but rookie right tackle Aireontae Ersery deserves credit for his block. While Ersery had some struggles in his debut, this rep stood out—he reached the second level, turned Rams linebacker Omar Speights and drove him to the ground.
