Each week I’ll be breaking down several key match-ups from an IDP perspective and analysing the fantasy impact of the face-off. Whether the match-up means a boost in scoring opportunities for the defensive player or the potential benching of a usual scoring machine, IDP vs Star has it covered.
This week’s match-ups will focus on why the Pittsburgh linebackers have plenty of upside this week; how a tough match-up for defensive rookie of the month Chandler Jones means he should be riding your bench ; and why Jacksonville’s passing game woes will stifle the production of the Bears DBs.
Pittsburgh LBs vs. Philadelphia
It doesn’t seem that long ago that Lawrence Timmons was one of the most highly prized IDP assets in dynasty leagues, yet a few short years later he is riding many fantasy benches. Injuries to the Steelers’ linebacking corps forced Timmons into playing OLB last season, and despite a return to ILB in 2012 the fantasy production hasn’t been there. Instead his older counterpart, Larry Foote, has been the higher scoring player, yet Week 5 could be a turning point in his season. The return of James Harrison at OLB opposite LaMarr Woodley should also prove to be productive in a fantasy perspective, even if his role is limited.
