One of the best things about college football is that for every can’t miss, no-doubt, guaranteed “lock of the week” player that suits up on Saturday, there is just as many sleeper, under the radar, “didn’t see that one coming” players ready to make a name for himself. Last week, Iowa RB Akrum Wadley stepped in for an injured Jordan Canzeri and ran for 204 yards and four touchdowns. While DFS players can’t foresee injuries that open the door for lesser known players to get valuable yards and touchdowns, they can identify some players who have favorable matchups and have a great opportunity to net big plays.
No matter which DFS site you prefer, or what style of game you like the most, you have to be able to identify some sleeper picks in order to cash. If your strategy is to play the highest priced guys in your lineups, being able to identify value becomes that much more important.
Sleepers seem like the come out of nowhere, but the truth is we can identify trends in these players’ games and seek out certain matchups that give players a chance to outperform their average stat lines. Sometimes it’s a running back whose offensive line is getting healthy at the right time and happens to be facing a team that doesn’t play the run very well. Other times, a wide receiver might be seeing increased targets from week to week and his team is playing a school that puts a lot of points on the board. The way to win in DFS contests is to do your homework and find the right matchups.
