There were plenty of surprises in the NFL in Week 1. James Jones came back from the dead and scored 19.1 points, and Calvin Johnson scored just 4.9 points. It’s a funny game that we play when these things happen. You’ll see James Jones being grabbed off the waiver wires, and players like Nelson Agholor being dropped for him.
The best part about daily fantasy is that we don’t have to worry about who we are dropping and picking up every week. We have to analyze the matchups and try to figure out who offers the most points per dollar spent.
Last week, it seemed as if the options that we didn’t spend much on came through (Bishop Sankey, Stevie Johnson) while those that we did shell out some cash for (Calvin Johnson, Adrian Peterson) didn’t.
But we are moving forward to this week and learning from our mistakes. Here are the top plays for Yahoo DFS in Week 2.
Quarterback
Colin Kaepernick QB, 49ers ($32)
I usually set the rest of my lineup before going to the quarterback position, but when going through my projections this week, I knew that I would end up with Kaepernick on a lot of my DFS teams.
While it is tough to travel across the country to Pittsburgh, the fact that he is playing against the Steelers makes up for it. There were ten games in 2014 in which the Steelers allowed 16 or more fantasy points to the opposing quarterback, including three of them over 25 points.
Just last week we witnessed Tom Brady and the Patriots wreck the Steelers secondary with Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola as their starting wide receivers.
