Each week I’ll comb through the options at each position to bring you my picks for the players with the best combination of safety and upside over a wide price range. These are guys you’ll use in cash games for the most part, but there’s nothing wrong with slotting a couple into your tournament lineups as well for stability.
Quarterback
Cam Newton $7400: Facing the league’s best quarterback matchup in terms of fantasy points allowed, Cam Newton stands a great chance of keeping his Panthers unbeaten. His wide receiver situation isn’t great, though Mike Clay likes the CB matchup for Ted Ginn Jr. quite a bit, but he always has Greg Olsen ($6400) in his back pocket. Olsen is easily the top tight end play this week and a great pairing with Newton. Although, I think you can safely play Newton alone too, thanks to the high rushing floor and distributed passing options.
Ben Roethlisberger $6600: I think Roethlisberger might go a little bit under the radar this weekend. The Steelers and Roethlisberger can be solid gold at home and with a healthy cadre of receivers and our 24th ranked defense of the Colts, he should have no problem throwing for 300-plus yards and a few scores.
