The AFC South isn't exactly a goldmine for fantasy football owners, but when two of the weaker defenses in the NFL share a field, there is fantasy glory to be had.
The analysis for this game needs to begin where last week left off: Andrew Luck. The pride of Standford is off to an amazing start, capped off by his record setting 433 passing yards last week. The Colts are trusting their rookie to decide games — Indianapolis is the only team with a winning record to attempt at least 41 passes per game — resulting in his emergence as a solid start every week in all fantasy formats.
He faces a Jacksonville defense that has been difficult to figure out from a fantasy standpoint. Only six teams have given up fewer touchdown passes than the Jags (9), but only two defenses have intercepted fewer passes (4). This indicates their ability to load up in “prevent” type defenses, discouraging offenses to take big shots down field. Don't get me wrong, this is still a favorable matchup for Luck, but it isn't a given that he is a Top-5 option this week. Reggie Wayne‘s history against the Jags is a perfect example of what could happen here. He averages nearly 84 yards per game against the divisional rival, but has not reached the endzone in five straight games against Jacksonville. One player trending in the right direction on this Colts offense is Dwayne Allen. He has increased his involvement in each of the past three weeks, and with Colby Fleener sidelined, he should record 7-10 touches, and is as good a bet to see looks in the redzone as anyone.
