A player's injury status can have a significant effect on fantasy football and DFS — it can alter draft strategy, roster construction and, most importantly, it can determine start-or-sit decisions.

Each week, I will comb through the official injury reports for each game and give updates and analysis for fantasy-relevant players. Injuries are fluid, so make sure to stay up to date by following @mario_pilato on Twitter.

BUFFALO BILLS

Player Pos PFF grade Consensus Rank Injury Status
Cole Beasley WR 84.9 WR7 Knee (-)
Gabriel Davis WR 64.9 WR13 Ankle Questionable
Stefon Diggs WR 89.4 WR3 Oblique (-)
Zack Moss RB 71.9 N/A Ankle  IR

Mario’s take: Beasley was a limited participant at practice on Thursday and a full participant Friday. He will play in the AFC Championship game.

Davis missed practice Wednesday and Thursday, but was a limited participant Friday.  He has a shot at playing but I am not optimistic.

Diggs was a limited participant in practice Wednesday and Thursday, but was a full participant Friday. He will play against the Chiefs.

Moss suffered an ankle injury during the Bills' playoff game against the Colts. The injury was severe enough for the Bills to shut him down for the whole postseason. Moss has been placed on IR but will be ready for the 2021 season.

Allen Lazard WR 71.1 WR10 Wrist/Back (-)

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

Player Pos PFF grade Consensus Rank Injury Status
Clyde Edwards-Helaire RB 75.3 RB5 Ankle/Hip Questionable
Le’Veon Bell RB 73.9 RB8 Knee  Questionable
Patrick Mahomes QB 91.4 QB2 Head/Toe (-)
Sammy Watkins WR 64.4 WR12 Calf Questionable

Mario’s take: Edwards-Helaire was a limited participant in practice all week and I expect him to return to action this weekend.

Watkins was a limited participant all week but is considered a true game-time decision. He will try to give it a go but I’m  of optimistic he can play.

Bell did not practice Thursday or Friday due to swelling in his knee. I am not optimistic he can play on Sunday.

Mahomes suffered a toe injury and concussion in the divisional round. He is in the five-step concussion protocol and is progressing well. The mild turf toe injury is more of a concern than the concussion. It could limit his play making ability against the Bills. Mahomes has practiced in a limited fashion all week and he will play in the AFC Championship game.

Jones was a limited participant Wednesday and Thursday, but a full participant Friday. He will play this weekend.
