Fantasy Football: 5 last-minute waiver-wire targets before Week 10

Estimated reading time: 5 minutes

With already so many key fantasy players injured or on bye weeks, you may find yourself digging deeper on the waiver wire than you ever expected. Here are five players to consider adding from the waiver wire heading into Week 10 if you’re in a pinch due to injury or bye weeks.

QB Justin Fields, New York Jets

Justin Fields‘s fantasy production has been a real scary roller-coaster this season. He has put up 200-plus pass yards and 21-plus fantasy points in four of seven games played this season, but he also had fewer than 50 pass yards and fewer than five fantasy points in the other three games played. Before the Jets’ Week 9 bye, Fields had one of his better passing games of the season against the Cincinnati Bengals, and he could build on that success in a favorable matchup at home against the Cleveland Browns.

The Browns have a tale of two defenses — a dominant one at home and a leaky one on the road. They have allowed an average of 2.5 points in four games played on the road this season, compared to just 13.5 points per game allowed at home. Lamar Jackson (26.3 points), Drake Maye (26.3 points), and Aaron Rodgers (17.5 points) each had good fantasy performances in their home game against the Browns this season.

RB Emari Demercado, Arizona Cardinals

It seems that Emari Demercado is officially out of timeout after he fumbled before crossing the goal line on an early celebration back in Week 5. Demercado saw the field for just three snaps and had one single carry over Weeks 6 and 7 combined before the Arizona Cardinals’ Week 8 bye. He must have made amends with the coaching staff over the bye week, as they came out of the bye week allowing Demercado to lead the team with 14 carries in the game.

Demercado was much more successful on the ground in Week 9 compared to his backfield teammate Bam Knight, gaining 79 rushing yards on 14 carries, while Knight recorded just 27 yards on nine attempts. On the season, Demercado has been the most efficient running back for the Cardinals, averaging 7.7 yards per rushing attempt this season.

While Trey Benson remains on injured reserve, I expect Demercado to be the Cardinals’ lead back as he has offered the team the most burst and upside among their backfield options. The Cardinals face the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday, who allowed the Washington Commanders‘ struggling running back group to combine for 103 rushing yards, one touchdown and 17.6 fantasy points last week.

WR Parker Washington, Jacksonville Jaguars

With injuries derailing the Jacksonville Jaguars‘ receiver room, Parker Washington has played on 88% of the team’s offense snaps in each of their last two games. Washington saw a team-high 19 targets and 12 receptions over those two games. Last week, against the Las Vegas Raiders, Washington recorded season-highs with eight receptions, 90 receiving yards and 17 fantasy points. Both Travis Hunter and Brian Thomas Jr. will miss Week 10, giving Washington even more opportunity and an increase in playing time and targets.

Unfortunately, the Jaguars face the very tough Houston Texans secondary this weekend. The Texans have allowed the second-fewest fantasy points per game to the wide receiver position through the first nine weeks of the 2025 season. However, if you are in a desperate spot to fill a WR or flex spot with byes and injuries, Washington’s expected high target volume makes him a viable option, even in this tough matchup.

WR Christian Watson, Green Bay Packers

Christian Watson made his season debut returning from a torn ACL in Week 8 and has now seen an increase in offensive snap percentage in back-to-back weeks, catching six of eight targets for 143 yards while still seeking his first touchdown this year. As he continues to ramp up his offensive participation, he looks primed to see an even greater share of the work, as tight end Tucker Kraft is out for the season after suffering a torn ACL in Week 9.

Through the first eight games of the season, Kraft ranked second on the team with 40 total targets while leading the team with 489 receiving yards and six touchdowns. He also ranked second on the team with 14 targets in the red zone, only behind Romeo Doubs, who has had 15. That should open up opportunities for Watson to earn an increased target share in Week 10 at home against the Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles have been middle-of-the-pack against fantasy wideouts this year, allowing 25.6 fantasy points per game to the position, but the potential for an increased target share and Watson’s big-play potential, averaging 21.8 yards per reception and 12.5 yards per target over the past two seasons, gives him upside in Week 10. Dating back to 2024, Watson leads the team with six receptions of 40-plus receiving yards despite missing six games to start this year.

TE Dalton Schultz, Houston Texans

Despite the Texans' offense being relatively disappointing this year, Dalton Schultz has been a quietly productive fantasy option lately, scoring at least 11 fantasy points in three of his last four matchups despite failing to score a touchdown in any of those games. Since Week 5, Schultz has averaged nearly seven targets and 65 receiving yards per game.

He ranks second on the team with 47 targets and 385 receiving yards this season, while leading all wide receivers and tight ends on the team, averaging 5.0 yards after the catch per reception. Though he’s still seeking his first touchdown this year, he is tied for the second-most red zone targets (8) for the Texans one the season, which could eventually lead to some positive regression.

Last week against the Denver Broncos, Schultz caught six receptions for 77 yards on eight targets, with four of those six receptions coming from QB Davis Mills, who will start for the Texans again in Week 10 with C.J. Stroud in concussion protocol. A favorable matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars could put him in position for a solid fantasy day. The Jags have allowed the fifth-most receptions and second-most fantasy points per game to tight ends in 2025.
