Alshon Jeffery vs. Patrick Peterson
Patrick Peterson shadowed on a majority of Brandin Cooks’ snaps last week and is a good bet to follow Chicago’s top wideout this week. Of course, Jeffery is dealing with a hamstring issue and is questionable for the game. If he sits, Eddie Royal becomes Jay Cutler’s top target and would likely avoid shadow coverage. Peterson rarely covers the slot, which is where Eddie Royal lined up on 80 percent on his 35 Week 1 routes. Tyrann Mathieu is more than capable of keeping Royal in check in the slot. Cooks didn’t have much success against Peterson last week (four targets, one catch, 30 yards), but Peterson was pedestrian, at best, in coverage last season. If Jeffery plays, shadow coverage from Peterson doesn’t move the needle.
