Welcome to Week 4 of Advanced Targets where we go behind the scenes of the current coaching apocalypse and help you navigate the hypothetical detritus strewn about in its wake.
Pass Routes
The Houston flotilla again finds itself at the top of the pass routes leaderboard. After quickly falling behind by a college football score due to their usual deficiencies magnified by the fluky Arian Foster fumble-6, the Texans largely abandoned the run. This led to 58 routes for DeAndre Hopkins, 56 for Cecil Shorts, and even 48 for Keith Mumphery. Meanwhile, Jaelen Strong rots on the bench Martavis Bryant-style. As The Dude would say, “Yes, I think there is an unspoken message here.”
Jeremy Maclin ran 54 more routes this week and turned his 12 targets into 154 yards. The move to Kansas City hasn’t hurt his fantasy prospects, perhaps even raising his profile slightly in PPR leagues. With Albert Wilson inactive, rookie Chris Conley also saw 51 routes as the Chiefs played catch-up against Cincinnati. We covered the rookies in detail last week and saw quite a few begin to emerge in Week 4. This trend will likely accelerate throughout October.
