The Big 12 is, by far, the youngest conference (established in 1994) among the Power 5, an amalgamation of elder statesmen conferences in the Big 8 and the Southwest Conference (4 of 12 teams). The Colorado Buffaloes left to join the Pac-12 in 2011 and, the day after Colorado made the decision, the Nebraska Cornhuskers followed suit and joined the Big Ten. A year later, Texas A&M and Missouri also left to join the SEC. The Big 12 countered the losses with the additions of TCU from the Mountain West and West Virginia from the, now defunct, Big East.
While the conference can only claim three National Championships during its history, Oklahoma has claimed seven titles, Texas four, and TCU has secured two overall. Oklahoma, in fact, has an additional 10 unclaimed titles that are recognized by the NCAA and also hold the longest winning streak (47) in history at the top level of college football.
After evaluating the Big 12 quarterback position in the last two entries, we'll now shift focus to part one of the identification of the conference's running back potential to DFS (FanDuel and DraftKings), redraft, and devy formats.
