Showdown: The Stat Guru vs. The Gambler, Week 10

A good week for Nathan, going 9-3-1, but going 1-2-1 with his favorites isn't great. Joe meanwhile followed up last week's great week with a bad week.

Joe managed 2-2 on his favorites, but didn't get close to .500, as he called just four games correctly and managed just 4-8-1. Nate now has a commanding 10 game lead with a further 5.5 game lead in the favorites. With a full 16 game slate back (even if they are picking just 15) on the table and half the games having split picks, will Nathan continue to pull away or will Joe claw his back to make it a contest.

To date:
Nathan: 64-56-9 (19-11-3 locks)
Joe:54-66-9 (13-18-2 locks)

New Orleans @ Atlanta PK

Nathan: I picked the Falcons to win this as they are the home team and I think they can take advantage of the Saints defense. Pick: Atlanta

Joe:  With the Saints defense being so bad I will try the Falcons for now. Ryan is very capable, and the Falcons seem to be at the top of their game. Pick: Atlanta

Tennessee @ Carolina -3.5

Nathan: While I think Carolina can win this, Tennessee has just played too well to ignore, and I can't see them losing by that much. Pick: Tennessee and the points

Joe: The Titans have been playing very well and they could have easily won last week. I think they bounce back with a win over Carolina, and the points are a bonus. Pick: Tennessee and the points

Pittsburgh -3 @ Cincinnati

Nathan: The Bengals have played far too well this season,  that I can’t pick against them at home, especially when the Steelers are hurting Pick: Cincinnati and the points

Joe: The Bengals have been playing great, but I really wouldn’t want to put my money on Dalton this weekend, even with the Steelers' injuries. This should be a very interesting game. Pick: Pittsburgh to cover
.

St. Louis @ Cleveland -2.5

Nathan: The Browns have shown they can beat the bad teams and lose to the good ones. The Rams have been a bad team this year. Pick: Cleveland to cover

Joe: I have had a hard enough time keeping in touch with teams that matter. I really don’t have a clue about these two beasts matching up. Bradford's injury keeping him out of this one is my concern. Pick: St. Louis and the points. .

Buffalo @ Dallas -6

Nathan: Dallas has won by more than six in each of the past three games, and the Bills defense has just been too beat up recently. Pick: Dallas to cover

Joe:  The Dallas play calling under Jason Garrett has been horrendous, and people are finally starting to talk about it even though it took a good three years. What scares me here is how the Bills have played without Williams and how they looked against a similar Jets defense. I would like to look into this one more. Pick: Buffalo and the points

Jacksonville -3 @ Indianapolis

Nathan: If Indianapolis is going to win any game this season, this is probably the game to do it. Pick: Indianapolis and the points

Joe: Jacksonville has played decent so far this season, but this is the best chance for the Colts to score a victory. Leaning towards the Jags. Pick: Jacksonville to cover

Denver @ Kansas City -3

Nathan: If I just ignore what happened last week, this game would be far too easy to pick. Although last week happened, I still don’t believe the Chiefs are as bad as their loss. Pick: Kansas City to cover

Joe: Like I have said a million times. I will never bet anything on Tebow, the guy has no business being on the field other than to sell jerseys. Pick: Kansas City to cover.

Washington @ Miami -4

Nathan: While I like the Dolphins to come out with the victory, I also think it will be very close. I think it could very well be within a field goal, which makes this easier. Pick: Washington and the points

Joe:  This looks like it will be a very close game that could go either way. I don’t think either team is as bad as their records would indicate so it should be a good one to watch. Take the points. Pick: Washington and the points

Arizona @ Philadelphia -13.5

Nathan: The Cardinals won last week and the Eagles lost, which makes it really hard for me to go higher than 13 for the Eagles. Pick: Arizona and the points

Joe: I haven't had the chance to watch the Bears game, but I would assume the Eagles looked about the same as they have all season. This team really has only played one really solid game, and that was against Atlanta which they ended up loses after Vick got knocked out. You can't seem comfortable laying so many points, but it looks like Kolb will be out so lets see what the Eagles got. Philadelphia to cover.

Houston -3 @ Tampa Bay

Nathan: The Texans have the advantage in too many areas, so they should come out on top by a bit. Pick: Houston to cover

Joe:  There is a reason why the Texans are favored on the road in Tampa. I really would like to dive into this game more as it looks like it might be a good game, so hopefully I can find some time. Pick: Houston to cover

Baltimore -7 @ Seattle

Nathan: While I still don’t believe in the Ravens offense, I believe in the Seahawks offense even less. Pick: Baltimore to cover

Joe: This is a tough number to bet. If the Ravens spread them out and attack, they should cover. Problem is that is not really their style. I will take the points for now. Pick: Seattle and the points

Detroit @ Chicago -2.5

Nathan: I picked the Bears to win in a toss up, but it’s so close that I will gladly take the points instead. Pick: Detroit and the points

Joe:  The Bears win really didn't surprise me all that much given how Philly has played this year. This should be another great match up and I will roll with the Lions sneaking by in a close one. Pick: Detroit and the points

New York Giants @ San Francisco -3.5

Nathan: Exact same thing as above, except replace the word Bears with 49ers. Pick: New York and the points

Joe: I have done pretty well with these two teams this year, but this game is a bit harder for me. I think both of these squads are a bit overrated, but SF might be more balanced. I would like to mention that Eli is quietly having a great year… very impressive at times. Pick: San Francisco to cover

New England @ New York Jets -1

Nathan: The Jets have strung together three solid victories since losing to the Patriots, and now that the game is in New York I think the Jets can pull it out. Pick: New York to cover

Joe: This might be another great game to bet this weekend. I saw some things on film from these teams earlier, but need to try and go back to dive a little deeper. The Jets are playing very well, but having no pass rush against Brady is not good. Pick: New England and the points

Minnesota @ Green Bay -13

Nathan: While I like everyone else think the Packers will win, they have kept games way too close for me to pick them by  13. Pick: Minnesota and the points

Joe:  Green Bay should have blown the Vikings out by more than 13 in Minnesota so I see no reason why they don’t blow them out at home. I do have to admit I haven’t been able to watch the Vikes since that game so I really don’t know how Ponder has progressed yet which makes it more of a guess. Pick: Green Bay to cover
