In Week 10, the Seahawks kept up their dominant ways with a thumping 44-22 win over the lowly Cardinals. And in traditional Seattle fashion, it was an unheralded defensive standout who propelled Seattle’s seventh victory this year.
Second-year linebacker Tyrice Knight got a starting nod in Week 10 with stud Ernest Jones IV out due to a knee injury. Knight sure made the most of his opportunity, assembling an amazing all-around effort.
Knight only played four pass-rushing snaps, but they defined the very flow of the game. He garnered two sacks by knocking the ball away from Arizona starter Jacoby Brissett on blitzes, with each loose pigskin returned by DeMarcus Lawrence for a touchdown. Admittedly, Knight’s pass-rushing prowess came on a very small sample size, but it resulted in a staggering 97.8 PFF pass-rushing grade.
In coverage, the UTEP product was nearly just as effective. Across 34 coverage snaps, Knight permitted only three catches for 15 yards on four targets. His other try was a dropped interception in the red zone in the third quarter. Ultimately, Knight notched a good 77.5 PFF coverage grade and just an 80.2 passer rating when targeted.
Knight’s collective efforts fueled an outstanding 93.9 overall PFF grade the highest of any defensive player to see at least 10 snaps in Week 10. In fact, that shaped up to be one of the best single-game outings from a linebacker all season.
Highest-graded games by linebacker this season (min. 10 snaps)
| Player | Team | Week | Snaps | Overall PFF Grade |
| Fred Warner | 49ers | 2 | 71 | 95.1 |
| Tyrice Knight | Seahawks | 10 | 53 | 93.9 |
| Jack Campbell | Lions | 5 | 62 | 92.8 |
| Payton Wilson | Steelers | 8 | 43 | 92.7 |
| Cody Simon | Cardinals | 9 | 20 | 92.5 |
| Foye Oluokon | Jaguars | 1 | 64 | 92.5 |
Just how elite was Knight in Week 10? His overall mark is the highest in a game by any Seattle defender this season, which is an incredibly impressive threshold given how good the team’s unit has been. Moreover, that 93.9 grade is the best by a Seahawk defender since Julian Love‘s 94.1 mark in Week 15 of 2023.
The 2025 campaign has been somewhat of a trying one for Knight, a burgeoning starter in 2024 who was effectively benched in Week 6. However, showings like the one he compiled in Week 10 render him nearly impossible to take off the field.
Knight’s performance in Week 10 is emblematic of a Seahawks defense that’s arguably deeper at all three levels than any other in the NFL, with seemingly new names making an impact every week. With Seattle now 7-2 and tied for the top seed in the NFC — thanks to a defense that’s fifth in EPA per play — Mike Macdonald’s team is making noise that’s hard to quiet, and softly-spoken names like Knight’s are major reasons why.
