- On Sunday, the New York Giants announced that UDFA rookie safety Jadar Johnson left camp and has decided to retire. The former Clemson Tiger earned an overall grade of 82.3 in his senior season.
- Johnson was always best utilized as a deep free safety rather than close to the line of scrimmage as his 82.7 coverage grade would indicate. He was compared to current Giants’ safety Duke Ihenacho in PFF’s 2017 draft guide.
- In his final season at Clemson, Johnson showed off his ball skills collecting five interceptions and five pass deflections for the national champions. His highest-graded game last season (86.3 overall) came in week 5 against Louisville where he played 100 out of 101 snaps.
