- Per Field Yates, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant has been cleared to participate in all preseason activities, including games, though he is not yet fully reinstated for the regular season. After being drafted in 2014, Bryant has had issues with staying on the field, missing the first four games of the 2015 season and the entire 2016 season due to violations of the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
- Bryant exploded onto the scene his rookie year, where he posted an impressive 2.76 yards per route run, good for third-best among 90 qualifying wide receivers. He ranked behind only A.J. Green and Demaryius Thomas, who had 2.96 and 2.78, respectively.
- While Bryant did see his yards per route run dip in 2015 to 2.08, fellow teammate Antonio Brown should benefit from Bryant’s eventual return. Brown saw his yards per route run decrease when Bryant wasn’t on the field in 2016, falling from a career high 2.91 in 2015, to 2.26 in 2016.
