- Jacoby Brissett, traded from the Patriots for wide receiver Phillip Dorsett, is set to start at quarterback for the Colts against the Cardinals in Week 2, as reported by Ian Rapoport. Andrew Luck isn’t yet ready to return from offseason shoulder surgery, and Scott Tolzien performed poorly in Week 1, earning a 33.3 overall grade, the lowest among all starters.
- Brissett began last season with the Patriots as the third string quarterback behind Tom Brady and Jimmy Garoppolo, but Brady’s suspension and Garoppolo’s Week 2 injury gave Brissett the opportunity to start Week 3 and week 4. His overall grade of 49.5 was the sixth lowest among qualifying quarterbacks during the first four weeks, although he did start week four against Buffalo with a torn ligament in the thumb of his throwing hand.
- Brissett entered last week’s game in the fourth quarter, and completed his first pass for 50 yards in a drive that resulted in a rushing touchdown by Marlon Mack. In his last fully healthy start with the Patriots, Brissett earned a rushing grade of 74.4, rushing eight times for 48 yards and a touchdown, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see some read option plays implemented for him by the Colts. Brissett has also proven to be capable when under pressure. He was the only quarterback in 2016 with at least 55 snaps to be 100 percent accurate with his passes under pressure.
