- Pittsburgh Steelers rookie RB James Conner has been suffering from an AC joint sprain in his shoulder, according to head coach Mike Tomlin. Conner, who has been getting reps with the first team at training camp with the absence of Le’Veon Bell, should be ready to go in a matter of “days,” per the report.
- Conner was one of the best running backs in college football in 2014. He was the third-highest-graded runner that season with an overall PFF grade of 85.8, and his 87 forced missed tackles while running the ball are the second-most by a running back in the PFF era (PFF began grading college players in the 2014 season).
- After missing the majority of the 2015 season with a torn MCL and a Hodgkin’s lymphoma diagnosis later in the season, Conner returned to the football field in 2016. He had the sixth-best breakaway percentage among draft-eligible backs last season as 562 of Conner’s 1,088 rushing yards came on runs of 15 or more yards for a breakaway percentage of 51.7.
