- Ian Rapoport reports the Detroit Lions have lost edge defender/linebacker Brandon Copeland for the entire 2017 season after suffering a torn pectoral muscle in Sunday’s preseason game versus the Indianapolis Colts. Copeland has been with the Lions since 2015 after being offered a contract following his appearance in the veterans combine.
- In limited defensive snaps for the Lions, Copeland has proven to be a versatile defender playing both on the edge and off the ball at linebacker. In 2016, Copeland earned an overall grade of 68.2 on 140 snaps, a majority of which were played at a linebacker position.
- Copeland has graded well on special teams for the Lions and has specifically played well on the punt coverage team. In 2016, Copeland played an additional 308 special teams snaps.
