  • Through five weeks of the 2017 season, Pittsburgh Steelers guard David DeCastro is ranked first among all offensive guards with a PFF overall grade of 88.8.
  • After five games, the sixth-year guard has arguably played the best football of his career to date, and is performing well in every aspect of the game. He’s been especially impressive in the run game and has earned an “elite” run-blocking grade of 91.9 that ranks first among guards and third among all offensive linemen.
  • He’s also been good in pass protection, and currently ranks 10th among 72 qualifying guards with a pass blocking grade of 81.4. DeCastro has allowed just six hurries on his 205 pass blocking snaps so far, for a pass-blocking efficiency of 97.8 that ranks 15th among 72 guards with at least 60 snaps in protection. He is the only guard in the league that has played more than 200 pass-blocking snaps without allowing a hit or a sack.
