- After a breakout season in his third year, Houston Texans edge defender Jadeveon Clowney's position coach Anthony Weaver was impressed enough that he told him he has Hall of Fame potential.
- Clowney's PFF grade of 87.2 in 2016 was ninth best among edge defenders and was also a career-best to this point. Particularly, Clowney shined defending the run where his grade of 89.1 tied for third among all edge defenders.
- In 2016, Clowney also improved as a pass-rusher where he posted a current career-best in pass rush productivity with a figure of 9.4 (22nd). That was an improvement from his 2015 pass rush productivity that checked in at 7.9 (30th).
