- The Chiefs signed former Seahawks safety Steven Terrell Thursday, adding a player with substantial experience (467 career special teams snaps) to their already strong special teams units.
- Kansas City, who played six or more defensive backs on 46 percent of the time a season ago, surely welcome the experience of Terrell (503 snaps in 2016, including the postseason) to compete with veteran Daniel Sorenson (574), and youngsters Eric Murray, Leon McQuay III, and Jordan Sterns for playing time in three-safety packages.
- The former undrafted free agent from Texas A&M earned a respectable 73.2 grade in 208 run defense a season ago, making him possibly a better fit for the dime linebacker position that Sorenson (34.6) held for much of the last two seasons, even if he was deployed deep as a free safety for the Seahawks.
