- Denver Broncos rookie tackle Garett Bolles was carted off the field yesterday in tears with an ankle injury. The Broncos feared the ankle is broken, but are hoping for just a high ankle sprain, which would put him out for a number of weeks, but not the season. *Editor's Note: Adam Schefter has reported on Twitter that Bolles will be out just week to week with a bone bruise, instead of the initial fears of the worst.
- The rookie tackle had earned an overall PFF grade of 67.2 so far this season, which although average at best, was a giant leap over the grade of Donald Stephenson (31.0) last season, the player that now replaces him in the lineup.
- Bolles had allowed one sack and three hurries so far this season, which is less than a third of the total pressure allowed by Menelik Watson on the other side of the line.
- In 2016, Stephenson surrendered 50 total pressures over the season and had a pass blocking efficiency of 91.4, 58th in the league and some way shy of Bolles’ 95.4.
