Ameer Abdullah confirmed as Lions starter at RB

Lions GM Bob Quinn confirmed that Ameer Abdullah would be the team’s starter at running back in 2017 when asked following the draft.
Abdullah has played just 419 total snaps over two seasons since entering the league in 2015 as Detroit’s second-round pick.
Abdullah has averaged 4.3 yards per carry in the NFL, but gained just 2.2 of those yards after contact, forcing a missed tackle once every 8.9 carries.
His work in the pass game has the potential to be game-breaking, but he currently averages more yards after the catch (8.7) than he does net (8.0) as a receiver, as Detroit has used him only as a dump-off or check-down option.
