- It’s no surprise to see Ohio State’s defensive line loaded with NFL draft talent, and they were on full display in the opener against Indiana. While 2019 draft prospect Nick Bosa is emerging as one of the nation’s top talents (nine total pressures), draftable prospects Sam Hubbard and Dre’Mont Jones also had big nights.
- Hubbard plays on the edge where he picked up a sack, two QB hits and four hurries on his 41 rushes. Last season, he had the third-highest percentage of positively-graded plays against the run among returning edge defenders and this season has to be all about improving as a pass-rusher. With seven pressures under his belt, he’s off to a great start after finishing with 40 total pressures last season.
- One area to improve for Jones according to the PFF Preseason Draft Guide is his pass-rushing, and with a seven-pressure performance, he’s nearly half way to last year’s 16 total pressures. Jones was solid against the run last season, ranking 21st in the draft class with a run stop percentage of 9.2 percent, and if he continues to get after the quarterback at a high level, his draft stock will soar as the season progresses.
