With the new season underway, we’re launching a weekly series at PFF that provides a behind-the-scenes look at our grading process. Each week, we’ll break down some of the highest-graded individual plays, complete with tweets to show you the action.
Here are a few standout plays from Week 5.
Alfred Collins’ Punch Out
Rookie interior defensive lineman Alfred Collins made the biggest play of his young career, earning a big PFF grade for his game-saving forced fumble at the goal line. With just over a minute left and the Rams poised to take the lead, Collins beat a double team to earn a +0.5 grade, then received a +2.0 for punching the ball loose, and then he added another +0.5 for recovering the fumble himself.
The play prevented the go-ahead touchdown and sealed the upset victory.

One of Jalen Pitre’s interceptions
The Houston Texans defensive back did an excellent job covering Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry out of the backfield — but then took it to another level. Reading Cooper Rush perfectly, he jumped the route to make a diving interception, earning a +1.5 PFF grade on the play.
Thank you, we’ll take that 😉

One of Drake Maye’s big-time throws
The New England Patriots quarterback delivered one of the best performances of his career on Sunday Night Football, with plays like this showcasing his growth. He earned a +1.0 PFF grade on this throw, escaping pressure before hitting Stefon Diggs downfield. He finished the game with four big-time throws — the most in a single game of his career.

Aidan Hutchinson’s sack and forced fumble
The Lions edge defender is off to an impressive start in the 2025 season, and plays like this show why. He wasn’t fooled by the flea-flicker, beat his blocker for the sack, and forced a fumble in the process. That sequence earned him a +2.0 PFF grade on the play.
