Whether you've lost players to injury, looking for bye week fill-ins, or simply looking to upgrade your IDP's, the IDP Waiver Wire is here to help you know who to look for in your league's waiver claims.
DT Sedrick Ellis – Saints
Sedrick Ellis rose to prominence with a strong showing in the build up to the 2007 NFL draft, which saw the Saints trade up three places to 7th overall to select him. However, he did not have the immediate impact the front office was hoping for. In fact he graded -4.2 last year and -4.3 in 2008 although he did recorded 9 sacks over that time span, showing some potential. This year might finally be the year he breaks out as he already has a +5.8 grade (ranked 12th) and 2 sacks. What is most interesting is he also has 11 QB pressures, a number only topped among DTs by Ndamukong Suh and tied first on the Saints roster (with Will Smith). He makes for an upside bye-week fill in.
DE Chris Clemons – Seahawks
It is hard to find a more under-rated defensive end than Chris Clemons, who is owned in 0.0% of ESPN leagues according to official numbers. This is a guy who is currently ranked 8th in the PFF IDP scoring system for DEs, has 4 sacks on the season and is graded +14.1 (ranked 4th of ALL DEs). This is also the guy who in 2010 had 13, yes THIRTEEN, sacks and a +33.6 grade, which was only bettered by Justin Smith, Trent Cole, Charles Johnson and Julius Peppers. I don’t think there is much else to say…
LB Jamar Chaney – Eagles
Jamar Chaney was the issue of lots of preseason speculation as a potential IDP sleeper, by the drafting of Casey Matthews threw a spanner in the works. 5 weeks into the season though, Chaney has taken back the role as the starting MIKE linebacker and has posted double-digit fantasy scores in the past two weeks. When installed as a starter at the backend of the 2010 campaign, Chaney averaged 9 solo tackles a game, so his solid production now he’s back patrolling the middle shouldn’t be a surprise. Only owned in 6.1% of ESPN leagues, now is the time to grab Chaney.
CB Aaron Ross – Giants
Longhorn alumni Aaron Ross failed to live up to his lofty draft expectations so far in his career, but an injury crisis in the Giants secondary thrust him back into the limelight. After a rocky first two games saw him targeted 15 times, allowing 10 completions for 237 yards and a TD he has improved and picked of three passes in the last three games. A strong performance against Michael Vick (3/7 completed for 28 yards and 2 INTs) led to a total shutout against the Cardinals (no targets), before he slipped back into his old ways against the Seahawks (8/9, 106 yds, 1 TD and 1 INT). He is seen as a weak link in a beleaguered secondary so he should see enough opportunities to make him fantasy relevant for the time being.
S Kam Chancellor – Seahawks
I know we’ve mentioned Kam Chancellor before as a DB to pick-up, but his ESPN ownership percentage remains at 4.7% and he’s still the same 6’3”, 232lbs, +9.0 (ranked #2) safety who gets in the box and makes plays. With Seattle facing a bye week you’ll have a greater chance of grabbing him as he’ll get looked over by owners with more pressing needs. He’s currently only being outscored by George Wilson and Morgan Burnett in our scoring system and he’s a high-end DB1 who MUST be rostered.
