Whether you've lost players to injury, looking for bye week fill-ins, or simply looking to upgrade your IDP's, the IDP Waiver Wire is here to help you know who to look for in your league's waiver claims.
DT Domata Peko – Bengals
If you’re looking for a DT to fill in for a player on a bye, you could do a lot worse than Domata Peko. Peko currently leads all DT’s with 20 total tackles through the first 4 weeks of the season. His grade of +3.7 against the run (from weeks 1-3) places him 6th among DT’s. There is no reason to think he couldn’t continue with this steady production against a Jaguars team that had run the ball 57% of the time, until week 4’s clash with the Saints (16 runs, 49 passes).
DE Dave Ball & Derrick Morgan – Titans
Dave Ball and Derrick Morgan may have only mustered 34.5 fantasy points combined over the first quarter of the season. However, that may change in week when they go up against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers tackle pairing of Jonathon Scott (-8.4 in pass protection) and Marcus Gilbert (-1.5) allowing 9 sacks, 3 hits and 10 pressures in the first 3 weeks of the season. Although Ball and Morgan may have been underwhelming so far in 2011, with Ben Roethlisberger’s health also a concern, you can be sure Ball and Morgan will be going all out to get to the Steelers QB. If Scott and Gilbert keep allowing as much pressure as they have been, both Ball and Morgan can be plugged in as bye week fill ins for week 5.
LB Thomas Howard – Bengals
Ex Raiders LB Thomas Howard has been quietly putting together a very solid season in his new home, reflected in his +6.4 grade from weeks 1-3. Thomas is very stout against the run, with a +3.2 grade in run defense, and, like fellow Bengal Domata Peko, faces a run first Jaguars team with rookie QB Blaine Gabbert at the helm. The Jaguars ran the ball 110 times from week 1 – 3, before only rushing 16 times in their loss to the Saints. With such a commitment to the ground game, Howard should have ample opportunity to continue with his impressive season.
CB Kyle Arrington – Patriots
Ras-I Dowling’s week 2 injury forced the Patriots to insert Kyle Arrington, an undrafted free agent in 2008, into the starting lineup. In his first start against the Bills, Arrington grabbed 2 interceptions and posted a massive 21.5 fantasy points along with a grade of +4.0 for the game. In the other two games in which he saw significant action, Arrington was able to record 14 total tackles and post scores of 8 and 6.5 in weeks 2 and 4. With the Patriots secondary tied for first with the Bears for the most thrown at (both defenses have had 168 pass attempts at them) Arrington will get his chances to make plays, starting with Mark Sanchez and the Jets in week 5.
S Sean Jones – Buccaneers
Sean Jones has put together a strong start to the season, with grades of 2.5 and 2.7 in weeks 1 & 2 from the Free Safety position. Then, following Cody Grimm’s season ending injury, he was then moved to Strong Safety and his performance, and fantasy output, have gone downhill with a grade of -0.2 in week 3, and -1.8 in week 4. With Corey Lynch posting a -1.2 grade in pass coverage in his first start against the Colts, it’s not unfeasible the Bucs would look to move Jones back to the Free Safety role he was excelling. It’s definitley a situation worth keeping an eye on, as if Jones picks up where he left off, he would be a fantastic addition at safety.
