The best and worst fantasy WR matchups in Week 3 based on CBs

Remember when fantasy matchup analysis used to be “Team A gives up the most fantasy points to wide receivers”? Well, we’ve moved from analog to digital and now look at matchups on an individual level. Each week, I dig through the actually coverage tendencies for all 32 NFL teams and compile this information in the WR/CB Matchup Chart, which is released Thursday mornings.

Week 3 matchup upgrades

A.J. Green vs. Green Bay – Okay, so the Bengals offense is struggling. But don’t let that dissuade you from firing up Green this week. He’ll see primary coverage form Damarious Randall, who surrendered eight receiving touchdowns last year and is coming off a poor Week 2 performance where he allowed three catches on three targets for 66 yards against Julio Jones. Unlike the Falcons, Cincinnati isn’t likely to run away with this one, which means a favorable game script for Green.

Antonio Brown vs. Chicago – Xavier Rhodes held Brown in check last week, but he’s poised to bounce back in a major way this week. With Prince Amukamara still banged up, Brown could see primary coverage from Kyle Fuller. The former Virginia Tech corner allowed five receiving touchdowns in each of his first two seasons in the NFL.
