Trades have significantly altered the fantasy football landscape, creating some potential opportunities on the Week 9 waiver wire.
Remember, we cast a wide net every week in our waiver wire advice. Below you’ll see recommendations for shallow, regular, and deep leagues. Players are listed in order of priority and the suggested auction budget percentage is in parentheses.
Keep in mind that some leagues may be more aggressive or conservative in terms of bidding, so know your league tendencies. Regardless of the size of your league, it’s suggested that you work your way down the list and prioritize the top players in your waiver claims for this week.
Shallow leagues (8-10 teams)
Quarterback
Tyrod Taylor, BUF (8-15%) — The Bills signal-caller has performed well over the last two weeks and gets a favorable upcoming schedule. He's still available in 35 percent of leagues.
Jared Goff, LAR (7-10%) — Goff is a sneaky add, especially if you have fantasy playoff aspirations. The Rams get favorable matchups in December with Philly in Week 14 and Tennessee in Week 16.
Running back
Alex Collins, BAL (20-40%) — There's still a committee in the Ravens' backfield, but Collins continues to impress as a runner. He has RB2 potential and is still available in 51 percent of leagues.
Marshawn Lynch, OAK (15-30%) — Many fantasy owners parted ways with Beast Mode, as he's on waivers in nearly 54 percent of leagues. He still offers RB2 value for the stretch and should be scooped up.
Darren McFadden, DAL (15-30%) — With Ezekiel Elliott‘s suspension back on, McFadden is the best bet for fantasy value in the Cowboys backfield for the next six weeks.
Wide receiver
JuJu Smith-Schuster, PIT (50-100%) — That's right, Smith-Schuster gets the rare “spend-it-all” designation after his massive Week 8 performance.
Sammy Watkins, LAR (15-30%) — Frustrated fantasy owners cut Watkins loose in 44 percent of leagues, but he gets a favorable second-half schedule and is worth a roster spot.
Tight end
Jack Doyle, IND (15-30%) — Week 8 was very likely Doyle's best performance of the season, but he still offers TE1 potential for the fantasy stretch run.
Regular leagues (12 teams)
Quarterback
Jimmy Garoppolo, SF (5-8%) — He won't play this week, but Garoppolo figures to the San Francisco's starter for the remainder of the season. He's now in the QB2 conversation.
