Rookies are the toughest players to project before a fantasy season with no pro experience to draw from. However, some situations are more conducive to fantasy football production to go along with the (relatively) little information we can glean from their college experience. Below are a few of those rookies who have succeeded in college and were drafted into environments that could accelerate their fantasy production.
Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Dallas Cowboys
Running backs taken as high as Elliott in the NFL Draft (fourth overall) have a mixed record of rookie success. On one hand, you have Darren McFadden’s (drafted fourth overall) rookie season where he saw just 113 carries and fell just short of 500 rushing yards. On the other, you have Adrian Peterson (drafted seventh overall), who totaled 1,500 yards and 13 touchdowns. It’s not an impossibility that Elliott comes a lot closer to Peterson’s successful rookie season for many reasons.
