We have a full slate on our hands for the weekend, with nine games on Saturday and three on Sunday. This is easily the best weekend of preseason DFS, and it’s far and away the best thing we’ll have until Week 1 of the regular season.
As you know, starters will be playing more this weekend, so it means you don’t have to dig quite as far into the depth charts to figure out who to play.
Below are some of my favorite plays for this big slate.
Quarterbacks
I like Derek Carr against the Dallas Cowboys this weekend. He completed seven of nine passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns in preseason Week 2, and he did all of that damage with just three possessions. Carr looked crisp and fully back from his injury.
In a move that was a bit strange, Philip Rivers sat out the team’s second preseason game. But he was strong in Week 1 of the preseason, connecting on five of six passes for 56 yards and a score. San Diego is loaded on offense, and with a full half of play, Rivers will rack up the points.
Jameis Winston played half of Tampa Bay’s game in Week 2 of the preseason, so it stands to reason that he’ll get a ton of run again in Week 3. He didn’t throw a touchdown in that game, but he did attempt 29 passes. I’ll take that kind of volume any day.
San Francisco’s starters are expected to play the entire first half on Sunday, but C.J. Beathard will be the second quarterback in the game. It’s a bit risky because we don’t know how much he’ll play, but if Beathard plays the entire second half, I’d be all over him. He has completed 14 of 23 passes for 211 yards and three touchdowns so far this preseason. I’m not sure I’ll roll with him, but it’s definitely something to consider.
