We’ve talked quarterback, running back, and wide receiver. Now let’s get into the tight end tiers. Like quarterback, the value at the position is clustered in the middle and later rounds of the draft. It doesn’t make a ton of sense spending an early pick on tight end this season.

Tier 1 – Rounds 2-5

Rob Gronkowski
Travis Kelce
Jordan Reed
Greg Olsen

This year, you essential have a Big 4 at tight end. Gronkowski is arguably the greatest of all time at the position, though injuries concerns with him are very real. Gronkowski hasn’t played all 16 games since 2011, and he’s missed significant time in two of the last four years. Kelce is likely to come off the board next in your drafts. The Chiefs’ tight end exploded down the stretch last year, posting five 100-yard performances over the last seven games of the season.

Like Gronkowski, Reed has the potential to be dominant when he’s on the field, but injury risk is ever-present. Olsen has been about as steady as they come with top 10 fantasy finishes in each of the last five seasons.

Tier 2 – Rounds 6-9
