Staying on top of injuries throughout the week, and especially on Sunday mornings, is one of the easiest ways to maintain an edge in fantasy football. Outside of, you know, just making sure you don’t have inactive players in your starting lineup, it’s important to understand how one injury can greatly impact the fantasy potential of other skill position players within a game.
Lucky for you, this weekly series is here to help. Rather than just frantically refreshing each team’s injury report, I’ll do the heavy lifting each Saturday night and update injuries and provide analysis once inactives are released and early game-time decisions finalized on Sunday mornings.

Updates/Analysis
Ameer Abdullah, RB, Detroit Lions – Inactive – With Abdullah out, Theo Riddick jumps up to the high-end RB2-range in PPR leagues. Last season, in games Abdullah was absent, Riddick averaged 9.3 carries per game, 7.1 targets per game, and 15.4 fantasy points per game. For perspective, 15.4 PPR fantasy points per game would rank 10th-best at the position this season.
Rishard Matthews, WR, Tennessee Titans – Inactive – Matthews is inactive for the second straight week, leaving behind a 6.6-target-per-game average. Still, the Titans are going to continue to spread the ball around more than we’d like. Delanie Walker was the team's most heavily targeted receiver last week, with just five targets. All receivers get a very slight boost in my rankings.
Aaron Jones, RB, Green Bay Packers – Active – Jones is active today, but per Adam Schefter, Jamaal Williams is “still expected to get most of the work.” For this reason, I’m only bumping down Williams slightly, to a low-end RB2.
Adrian Peterson, RB, Arizona Cardinals – GTD – Adam Schefter confirmed Peterson will be a game-time decision, but added that “the team was pessimistic.” I’d go ahead and bench Peterson if I had a 1 p.m. player I felt good about.
