While most players are gearing up for redrafts, dynasty leaguers have had most of their rosters for several years. They have made trades and cuts, and they have already drafted rookies. Overall, they have a good idea of which direction their team is going. However, each season brings on new questions and decisions on who should stay and go from their roster. Starting this week, we’ll take a look at the temperature of several players and determine if it’s time to buy or sell them, based on their current dynasty ranking.
Quarterback: Derek Carr, Oakland Raiders
While no one doubts that Derek Carr had a fantastic season in 2015, there is debate about his ability to do so regularly. Beneath the surface, there’s statistical evidence to indicate Carr is just an average quarterback and not worthy of his current top-10 dynasty ranking at the position.
Last season, Carr threw for nearly 4,000 yards and 32 touchdowns while only throwing 13 interceptions. Not bad for a 24-year-old in his sophomore season. However, it seemed to be a tale of two seasons, with 19 of his 32 touchdowns coming in the first eight games against only four interceptions. The second half was a different story, as he threw for 13 touchdowns and nine interceptions, hardly the trend you want to see to close out a season.
