Deciding which fantasy football players to fade in DFS is always a challenge. Do you fade the chalk? Risky — they are the chalk for a reason. Do you fade a particular game, because you think everyone is wrong about it? Another challenge — how confident are you in your process versus the consensus? Or do you play it safe, and fade some of the bigger names if they are in a tough spot?
However you choose to do it, this article aims to help you decide which players to avoid. Here are a handful of players I’ll be fading in Week 7.
Note: There’s always a case to be made for playing any player in tournaments. This list of “fades” is cash game focused, but most of these players can be avoided in tournaments as well. I’ll make note of players I think could be viable contrarian tournament picks, though.
Quarterbacks
Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Winston hurt his throwing shoulder and has been limited in practice this week, and he gets a tough matchup against a Bills squad that has given up just two passing scores so far this year. If Winston sits, Ryan Fitzpatrick is also a fade, even with the #RevengeGame narrative factored in.
Brett Hundley, Green Bay Packers
Hundley is in a decent spot (at home against NO), but he’s actually not that cheap on either main site; he’s same as Tyrod Taylor on DraftKings, same as Eli Manning on FanDuel. He doesn’t have a rushing floor (just one attempt last week) and he scored just 7.58 DraftKings points despite passing the ball 33 times. I’ll pass.
