  • Kentucky is off to a 3-0 start and edge defender Josh Allen has been a big part of their strong defensive effort. He’s picked up two sacks, eight QB hits and three hurries on only 79 pass-rushes this season, all adding up to an impressive 86.5 overall grade that ranks ninth in the nation among edge defenders.
  • The versatile Allen has also dropped into coverage on 42 of his 168 total snaps, showing well in that department, while also providing strong run support. At 6-foot-5, 230-pounds, he has good size and projects as a movable edge defender capable of playing in coverage in most classic 3-4 defenses.
  • Last season, Allen was a solid pass-rusher, picking up seven sacks, four QB hits, and 10 hurries on 175 rushes, but he had his struggles in the run game, so that’s something that must show continued improvement in order to raise his NFL draft stock. Allen has an opportunity to make a splash as Kentucky heads into the meat of their SEC schedule, but he’s already shown enough that he should be on the NFL’s radar.
