- Michigan State junior RB L.J. Scott, a 6-foot-1, 231-pound back leading the Spartans’ backfield, bulldozed his way through his opposition last season. He ranked No. 2 in yards after contact per attempt (3.72) among retuning Big Ten backs (minimum 150 attempts) in 2016.
- Scott has maintained his high YAC/Attempt throughout his two-year career in East Lansing, boasting 3.5 YAC/Attempt over the course of 330 career rushes.
- The Ohio native forced 33 missed tackles last season, which ranked No. 3 among returning Big Ten running backs with less than 240 carries. He also added another five missed tackles on just 10 receptions.
- Just because Scott has the power to wear down defenses up the middle doesn’t mean he can’t take it the distance. He recorded 14 runs of 15 yards or more in 2016, which ranked T-No. 2 among that same group of running backs.
