- In offensive tackle Connor Williams, the University of Texas may hold a future blindside protector for one NFL franchise. A consensus All-American last year, Williams’ performances in 2016 already have him as a PFF Day 1 projection. With a strong performance in the 2017 season, Williams could cement himself as a top 10 pick in the 2018 NFL draft.
- Williams’ had a pass blocking efficiency (PBE) of 99.2 which tied with Pittsburgh’s Brian O’Neil for No. 1 PBE among returning FBS tackles. Williams allowed four total pressures on 423 pass block snaps with only one of them being a sack (PBE measures pressure allowed on per snap basis with weighting towards sacks).
- He returns as the only FBS tackle to log more than 370 snaps in pass protection and allow less than five QB pressures.
- Williams' overall grade of 87.6 was the second highest grade among 2018 draft eligible tackles and his run blocking grade of 84.5 was the highest among all returning FBS tackles.
