The current COVID-19 pandemic has impacted teams, coaches and players in a way no other season has dealt with, but that is what makes the 2020 college football season one of the most interesting in the sport's history.

Now that the season has almost reached its midway point, let's take a look at the biggest surprises of the season so far.

1. Zach Wilson and BYU are legitimate

No one can argue that Zach Wilson and his 7-0 Cougars have been one of the most exciting teams to watch this season. Sure, they are only playing Group of Five competition, but that is not their fault.

Their original 2020 schedule pitted them against the likes of Utah, Michigan State, Arizona State, Minnesota, Missouri and Stanford. But, you can only face the opponent across from you, and Wilson has dominated every defense that has lined up across from him. He has yet to record a PFF grade below 75.0 this season and currently boasts a 93.8 passing grade, the best in college football.
