The regular season is over, and the playoffs are set. We saw the Hamilton Tiger-Cats lock up a first-round bye with a win, and the B.C. Lions earn a home playoff game with a victory of their own. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers beat the Montreal Alouettes and now have to turn around and play an immediate rematch in the playoffs.
As always, we’re recognizing the league’s top performers from last week in this edition of the CFL Team of the Week.
With Hamilton and B.C.’s big wins, it’s no surprise that they led the way this week with eight players each selected to the team. Despite prevailing, Winnipeg and Calgary were tied with Ottawa for the fewest selections at one each.

QUARTERBACK OF THE WEEK: QB NATHAN ROURKE, BRITISH COLUMBIA
Rourke closed the book on what should be a Most Outstanding Player Award-winning season with another massive game. The quarterback completed 22-of-27 passes for 365 yards and three touchdowns to just one interception. While the interception was a bad misread of the defense, he more than made up for it with four big-time throws. Rourke recorded a 69.2% accuracy percentage that ranked near the top of the league, and finished with an 85.9 PFF passing grade.
Rourke ends the year with a league-best 6.7% big-time throw percentage, while his 3.6% turnover-worthy play rate was the fifth-lowest out of 11 qualified quarterbacks.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: WR ERIK BROOKS, CALGARY
While Erik Brooks isn’t the star of Calgary’s offense, he’s been a reliable receiver all season for the Stampeders. He was more than reliable this past weekend, though. Brooks caught five passes for a league-high 136 yards, his season high. All five of his receptions went for first downs, and he forced a couple of missed tackles after the catch, too. Brooks ranked second with an 83.8 PFF receiving grade, and he led all receivers with a 5.44 yards-per-route-run average.
Brooks finishes the year with 49 catches for 805 yards, with almost exactly half of those yards coming after the catch (402).
OFFENSIVE LINE OF THE WEEK: HAMILTON TIGER-CATS
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ offensive line took care of business in its final game of the regular season, spearheading an offense that scored a league-best 35 points this week. The TiCats’ rushing attack averaged a league-best 2.3 yards before contact per carry, en route to 119 yards on 26 carries. They dropped back to pass protect 32 times, and didn’t allow a single sack or even a quarterback hit. More specifically, the group permitted just three total hurries and finished with a league-best 95.3 pass-blocking efficiency score as a unit.
The unit was led by excellent RT Quinton Barrow, who paced the league in both PFF run-blocking grade (87.6) and overall blocking grade (86.4).
PASS RUSHER OF THE WEEK: EDGE CLARENCE HICKS, CALGARY
Hicks finished his excellent season with another fantastic pass-rushing effort. The sophomore edge defender concluded last weekend’s game with a sack, two hits, a hurry and two additional pass-rush wins. His 30.0% pass-rush win rate ranked second in the CFL, and his 12.5 pass-rushing productivity score was the best in the league. He notched a very good 82.3 PFF pass-rushing grade on the week.
Hicks finishes the year as one of the best pass rushers in the entire CFL. His 91.2 PFF pass-rushing grade ranked second among all defenders, and his 73 total pressures slotted third.
RUN DEFENDER OF THE WEEK: DI SHAWN OAKMAN, MONTREAL
It was a big bounce-back game for Oakman after seeing his role diminished over the past few weeks. He was a run-stopping machine, recording a league-high five primary tackles to go along with two assists. He made three solo stops, including two tackles for no gain on goal-to-go plays by the Winnipeg offense. Oakman finished with a league-high 86.1 PFF run-defense grade.
This was the first game all season that Oakman has posted a PFF run-defense grade above 72.0 and his first game with three solo run stops since Week Five.
COVERAGE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: HB EVAN HOLM, WINNIPEG
Winnipeg’s strong secondary managed to hold Montreal’s passing attack to just 182 yards on 34 passing attempts last weekend, and Holm was a big reason why. Holm was targeted just twice on 22 pass coverage snaps, and they happened to be on back-to-back plays. The first target was a completion for a single yard when Holm charged into the flats and made the stop. The second was him breaking up a pass over the middle to force a punt. Holm finished with an 89.2 PFF coverage grade that led all secondary players this week.
Holm finishes the year with four interceptions, six pass breakups and a solid 82.2 PFF coverage grade.
