- Sam LaPorta is still a strong target without Ben Johnson calling plays: LaPorta faces a plus matchup against Green Bay’s coverage unit, particularly when it comes to Packers linebacker Quay Walker, who struggled to a 50.6 PFF coverage grade last season.
- Mark Andrews will look to redeem himself against Buffalo: Despite being held out of the end zone in both matchups against the Bills last season, Andrews was one of the most effective red-zone weapons in the NFL, posting a top-five red-zone PFF receiving grade (88.9).

These are some of the best anytime touchdown props to target for tight ends in Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season.
Sam LaPorta, Detroit Lions (+190)

Although Ben Johnson is no longer calling plays for the Lions' offense, the focus on key playmakers at the tight end position is sure to live on. LaPorta is reportedly dealing with an undisclosed injury, which casts a shadow over his status for Week 1 and bears monitoring before the team heads to Green Bay. However, indications out of camp suggest it’s not a major injury and LaPorta should be out for only a few days.
That’s a promising outlook for a Lions offense that relied heavily on LaPorta near the goal line down the stretch last season, resulting in a strong touchdown output. From Week 13 onward, he generated an 89.9 PFF receiving grade in goal-to-go situations, connecting on five of his six targets — four of which went for touchdowns.

Health permitting, the Lions would be wise to feature LaPorta heavily in their game plan. The talented tight end faces a plus matchup against Green Bay’s coverage unit, particularly when it comes to Packers linebacker Quay Walker, who struggled in coverage last season on his way to a 50.6 PFF coverage grade and is coming off a long recovery from ankle surgery.

Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens (+140)

The last time the Baltimore Ravens faced off with the Buffalo Bills, Mark Andrews became the center of controversy after dropping a game-tying two-point conversion that could have sent the AFC divisional-round matchup into overtime. Now, Andrews faces the very same Bills defense in Week 1 with an opportunity for redemption.
Despite being held out of the end zone in both matchups against the Bills last season, Andrews was one of the most effective red-zone weapons in the NFL. He posted a top-five red-zone PFF receiving grade (88.9) and tied for the league lead in red-zone receiving touchdowns (11).

Down the stretch, Andrews saw more focused usage in the red zone, totaling a 28.9% threat rate from Week 10 onward. That allowed the veteran to find the end zone in seven of his last 10 games. Meanwhile, the Bills' defense ranked 27th in red-zone touchdown percentage allowed last season.
