Arkansas-Ole Miss grades: Allen to Morgan powers the Razorbacks

Here are the top takeaways and highest-graded players from Arkansas' 53-52 win over Ole Miss:

Arkansas Razorbacks:

— Hitting on an astounding six of seven deep balls with four of those going for scores, QB Brandon Allen (+9.1) fueled Arkansas in this shootout. Allen put up big numbers any way you look at it — blitzed or not, pressured or not. In fact, on the 38 dropbacks that Ole Miss didn’t get pressure on him, he went 28 of 37 for 362 yards, five TDs, a 145.5 NFL passer rating and a +7.0 grade.

— On the other end of a huge chunk of Allen’s work was WR Drew Morgan (+5.8). All nine times Allen looked his way, the Razorbacks were rewarded: nine catches, 122 yards, three touchdowns and a +4.9 receiving grade that was Morgan’s highest of the season.

— This was the sixth-straight game in which DT Demarcus Hodge registered at least one hurry and his fifth-straight with strong positive overall grade. After putting up a +0.2 over his first four games, he has earned a +15.5 overall since the Week 5 win over Tennessee. That’s enough for a spot in the top 20 interior defenders in the country in that stretch.

Top Performers:

QB Brandon Allen (+9.1)
WR Drew Morgan (+5.8)
RG Frank Ragnow (+3.8)
LT Denver Kirkland (+2.9)
DT Demarcus Hodge (+2.4)

Ole Miss Rebels:

— Not to be outdone by his counterpart, QB Chad Kelly also turned in an outstanding afternoon and his all-around effort kept the points coming. His +7.9 overall grade was built on a +4.5 passing day combined with a +3.3 grade as a runner, the former being his second-best mark of the season and the latter being his best. Kelly picked up 80 yards and one of his three rushing touchdowns while scrambling.

— LT Laremy Tunsil (+2.0) has been back in the lineup for three games now and in that time his +7.5 overall grade has him inside the nation’s top 10 tackles and third among left tackles. With positive grades in both pass protection (+3.0) and in run blocking (+5.5), he’s hit the ground running and has solidified the Rebels’ left side.

— WR Laquon Treadwell caught all seven balls thrown his way for 132 yards and a touchdown while four different Arkansas defenders fell short of the task of covering him. Treadwell’s +2.7 receiving grade was his seventh significant positive in that area in 10 games and his +17.2 for the season is seventh-best in the country — fourth-best among Power-5 receivers.

Top Performers:

QB Chad Kelly (+7.9)
TE Evan Ingram (+2.1)
LT Laremy Tunsil (+2.0)
DT D.J. Jones (+2.0)
WR Laquon Treadwell (+1.8)
