In each column, we start our weekly breakdown by looking at the optimal daily fantasy stacks we suggested the week before. In Week 7, we rebounded at least somewhat after struggling the week before. Our “Derek Carr and Amari Cooper” stack flopped, but we crushed the “Andy Dalton and A.J. Green” stack. Stacking Philip Rivers with Tyrell Williams wasn’t too shabby either.
We’re now seven weeks into this thing and we have more data on the matchups. I expect to see more accuracy with these stacks going forward. Of course, I say that now, in Week 8, when we have more bye weeks than ever before and fewer games on the slate. You can click my name at the top of this column to check out how I did each week — just make sure you don’t skip over the really good weeks. For now, let’s jump right into the Week 8 stacks.
DraftKings
Derek Carr, QB; Amari Cooper, WR (Raiders vs. Buccaneers)
We’re going right back to the well with the stack that cracked us last week. In Week 8, this stack should have much lower ownership (recency bias), it has a much better matchup overall, and the Buccaneers don’t have a cornerback like Jalen Ramsey to follow around Cooper. Jameis Winston and Mike Evans, Andrew Luck and T.Y. Hilton, or Matt Ryan and Julio Jones are likely to be the most popular stacks this week. But you’re not going to win a large-field GPP tournament with the stacks everyone wants to play. And you’re also not going to find value with any of those high-priced stacks.
