Our Week 4 DraftKings lineup was a mixed bag, with players like Kirk Cousins, Melvin Gordon, Le’Veon Bell, Hunter Henry and the Broncos D/ST delivering. But the wide receivers — led by DeAndre Hopkins’ putrid 1.4 points against his $8,400 salary — brought down the final score, which checked in at 119.42.
This week, there’s no doubt the wide receivers are going to perform much better. You’ll see why.
Here’s my optimal DraftKings lineup for Sunday’s main slate, Week 5:
QB: Brian Hoyer, Chicago Bears ($5,500)
Over the past two weeks, Hoyer has attempted 85 passes (fifth among quarterbacks) and completed 58 of them (third) for 623 yards (second), four touchdowns (tied for seventh) and no interceptions. He placed eighth and sixth among quarterbacks in terms of DraftKings points the past two weeks, respectively, and he surpassed the 300-yard bonus in both games as well.
As the 17th-most expensive quarterback on the slate at only $5,500, Hoyer is an unsexy pick, but an easy way to save money. Hoyer is also playing against the Indianapolis Colts, who have given up the second-most points to opposing teams so far this season, at over 31 per game.
