Optimal DFS lineups: Going back to the Marvin Jones well in DraftKings

There’s no getting around this point, so we’ll just get it out of the way fast: Last week’s DraftKings lineup wasn’t good. Almost nothing went according to plan.

So it’s time to bounce back with a strong Week 2 DraftKings cash lineup. I once again used our DFS Lineup Optimizer to help craft a roster. Let’s get right to it.

QB: Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers ($7,900)

Newton had a so-so game against the Denver Broncos last week, and he still put up top-10 numbers in fantasy both in terms of efficiency (0.59 fantasy points per dropback) and in terms of total points scored (22.2).

This week he’ll face the San Francisco 49ers, who, despite shutting out their Week 1 opponent, do not have a good defense. The extra-rested Panthers will be playing the five-and-a-half-days-rested-plus-3,000-miles-traveled 49ers. Newton is an easy choice here, and he’s not even the most expensive quarterback.
