Week 7 waiver-wire pickups for IDP leagues

As we move steadily toward the second half of the season, obvious and dependable options on the waiver wire become few and far between. This means our strategy needs to be a balance of more speculative pickups, and those players with the highest floors, depending on the makeup of you roster. If you need any specific advice be sure to contact me on Twitter (@RossMilesNFL) and I’ll answer your questions. Here’s a look at the week in IDP waiver wire.

Defensive linemen

Charles Johnson, Carolina Panthers

The former DL1 is not the player he once was, but that doesn’t prevent him offering some potential value as a waiver wire pickup this week. Johnson only has a half sack on his resume this season, but his pass-rush productivity rating ranks him sixth against his 4-3 peers, above the likes of Kerry Hyder (five sacks), Michael Bennett (three) and Everson Griffen (four), so there is clearly potential for more production from him. A bye in Week 7 will mean interest in Johnson is low, so he should be a bargain pickup this week.
